Doggy Fun Anyone Can Do

What is FunDogz?

FunDogz
is a concept I came up with after watching the fun that dogz and their ownerz had doing different things. During the past year I have seen and done some Agility, Hurdling, Lure Coursing, and Lure Racing, aswell as FrizbeeDogz and some Fastest Recall events. The dogz I have seen doing these events have loved them, and so have the ownerz, so what better idea than to put them all together as one event? Although to run these events how I intend, any sort of lure event is out of the question, but at some Lurcher shows, the hurdling was very interesting and fun and can be adapted to run in FunDogz, just as the alternative to doing Lure Racing in FunDogz, is fastest recall, then we can adopt this idea to do the hurdling, using the same principle, calling your dog to you, but in this case, over the jumpz.

My Aim is to make an event accessible to most people, who have got time to train or even if they haven't much time to train or can't afford the time or money to go along to their local agility club. FunDogz is all about being able to practice at home or in your local park, or to even compete at a reasonable level with little practice.
It is something people can come along and try thir dogs at without having any experience at all.

FunDogz Eventz  will consist of four parts: FrizbeeDogz; JumpinDogz; RunninDogz; & HurdlinDogz

You only have to compete in at least two events, and you will score points from what position you came in the event (1st will get most and last the least points).

The Joker is a way of doubling the points you have scored at a particular event, simply tell the organizers which event you want to play your joker in and your points for that event will be doubled.

If Points are Tied your two events then it will be decided by who scored best in the third and fourth event, so although you don't have to compete in all the events, it could help in a tie, if you do.

JumpinDogz

JumpinDogz are simply that, dogs that jump. Similar to agility but still quite different, it is just jumpz, no contacts, tunnels, weaves or tables like in agility, and no set course.

You can go anywhere around the course, which will consist of between 6 and 9 jumpz, and in pretty much which ever order you like BUT, once you have jumped over a jump, you can only go back over it once more straight after; in other words, you can jump a jump, turn your dog around and jump it again straight after, but before you jump it a third time you must go over something else first then you can if you wish jump it twice more, and so on.

Once a jump has been knocked off it can no longer be used, if all jumpz get knocked off before you finish then you must wait (while the clock is ticking) for someone to replace them.

The Aim is to jump over jumpz 25 times in as short a time as possible, and five out of these 25 jumpz must be non-standard jumps, i.e. longjump, hoop' etc.

Contruction of the jumpz is out of plastic draining piping ONLY. The reason behind this is simple, people can either make or buy this type of jump for around 1/5th the price of other jump, which means people have the opportunity to practice at home.

More details of jump building coming soon.

Runnin & Hurdlin

RunninDogz a.k.a. fastest recall is simply that, how fast you can recall your dog. Your dog will be taken approxiametly 75 feet away (as we get more established this may get longer) and will be held so that at least his front two paws are on a mat. The distance will be marked out from the mat to a marker with the number "2" written on it and your dog will be timed from the moment he leaves the mat to the moment the first part of his body passes the "2" marker. Meanwhile you will be standing 10 feet further away with all your body behind a number "1" marker when you call him, and if you move forward the run won't count.

You will get three goes at this with your fastest two times added together

HurdlinDogz are simply that, they go over hurdles, but the difference between this and JumpinDogz is that there will not be more than five jumps and they will be in a straight line over 75 feet. the rest is done as RunninDogz above, only when your dog is recalled he must negotiate all the hurdles, with 1/5th of a second added for each one knocked over.
FrizbeeDogz

FrizbeeDogz are simply that, dogz that play frizbee. The aim of this is to score as many points as you can with 10 throws (also a maximum of 2 1/2 minutes).
The arena, which is a triangle, will be marked out in to 5 zones, the Throwing zone is the area where you will have to stand in when you throw the frizbee and is right in the corner of the triangle and exceeds 10 feet out. Between the 10 feet markers (marked with a number 1) and the 20 feet markers (you've guessed it, marked with a number 2) is the 10 feet zone. The 10 feet zone has two purposes, firstly your dog cannot go out of this zone to a higher zone (he can be next to you in the throwing zone if you wish, and is recomended), when the throw is being made. Secondly when your dog returns with the frizbee, if he drops it before he gets into the 10 zone then he will just be scored for retrieving (least points of all), whereas if he drops it either in the throwing zone or 10 zone the innitial score will count (i.e. if he caught it he would score more than a retrieve). Next up are the three points scoring zones, the 20 zone is between the 20 markers and the 40 markers, the 40 zone is between the 40 markers and the 60 markers and the 60 zone is past the 60 marker to the fence.

Points can be scored in four ways, either by jumping up and catching the frizbee (air), not jumping up but catching the frizbee (ground), catching the frizbee in either of these ways then dropping it (drop) or by just picking the frizbee up and bringing it back (retrieve)

Airs in the  60 zone = 12 points.....40 zone = 11 points....20 zone = 10 points

Grounds in the
60 zone = 09 points.....40 zone = 08 points....20 zone = 07 points

Drops
in the  60 zone = 06 points.....40 zone = 05 points....20 zone = 04 points

Retrieves in the  60 zone = 03 points.....40 zone = 02 points....20 zone = 01 points
